Twas the Night Before Bid Day...

Twas the Night Before Bid Day and all over UNC,
PNMs lay wide awake, No booze and no boy.
The Pref cards were signed at Carolina Inn with care,
In hopes that on Bid Day, the house they want will be theirs.

The girls were all nervous, sober in their beds,
As the Greek alphabet danced through their heads.
And I in my frat tank, Norts, and Free Run shoes,
Could barely wait to hear the news.

All week we had spent making banners and letters,
Hoping that what they did, we could do better.
Sleep and homework were a thing of the past,
Undoubtedly so, rush was kicking my ass.

We practiced non-stop for what seemed like forever,
Took a hint from the Biebs, 'cause we never said "never.'
And, what, to our tired and baggy eyes should be seen,
But a list full of PNMs that we'd get to meet.

With their Rho Chi's in chairs, and their shirts saying, "GO GREEK!",
The girls were all lined up and ready to speak.
Then out came our Rush Chairs, who stood on our wall,
And one by one their names they would call.

To the right, to the left, up the steps, down the hall,
But not before Emma fell off our stone wall.
To Pi Phi Paradise we took them Round 1,
And we learned that decorating is dangerous...but fun.

And as quickly as they came, they went right back out the door,
And nearly 5 minutes later came 75 more.
Round after Round and day after day,
It seemed as though rush was extending its stay.

But in what seemed like no time Pref Night was here,
On my Lilly Planner printed, it was plain and clear.
So I put on my white like a good angel should,
And headed to Pi Phi to tell all that I could.

They were dressed their best with Jack Rogers on their feet,
And their list of the houses they would soon go to meet.
A bundle of Longchamps were thrown on our bricks,
While the girls lined up one by one and filed in quick.

"Speed Thee My Arrow" we sang loud and proud,
Hoping PNMs would go to the Inn and first write us down.
So we gave them chocolate and sparkling juice drink,
Then sent them out again back onto the street.

Taking their trash to avoid a big fine,
We watched them all walk away and banana peeled our line,
We go back inside quickly and press up so close,
And sweating and panting we gave it our most...

BOOM BOOM! I want to go Pi Beta Phi!
The words came out loudly and we jumped up so high.
BOOM BOOM! And honey, that ain't no lie.
We want everyone to hear us, even Alpha Delta Pi.

Then we closed up our doors and came down the kitchen,
Where Chik-Fil-A nuggets awaited, and no one was bitchin.
And as we all headed out of the house and into the night,
We said, "We can't wait for Bid Day, with booze and boys in sight."

  1. I'm thinking your should be a writer instead of a teacher. But if you're stuck on teaching... go with English or creative writing! You're awesome Brooke! :)
